Phonetic Concepts
- Phonemic Awareness: sound manipulation (initial, final, medial sounds)
- Blending and reading three sound short vowel words and words with consonant digraphs
- Bonus Letter Spelling Rule: ff, ll, ss and sometimes z
- At the end of a one syllable word, if the word has one vowel immediately followed by an f, l, or s at the end, double that consonant.
- New Concept- Glued Sounds
- all, as in ball- /ol/ am, as in ham- /am/ an, as in fan- /an/
- The vowels are somewhat changed from a pure short vowel to a more nasalized vowel.
- Segmenting and spelling three sound short vowel words and words with consonant digraphs
- Sentence Dictation: capitalization, punctuation (end mark) and proofreading
